Workflow for implementation of Postprocessor/Machinekits
This implementation workflow and the resulting rights and obligations of both parties are part of the relevant offers of postprocessors and machine kits from JANUS Engineering AG.
The steps required for an optimal implementation of JANUS Postprocessors and MachineKits are based on several years of experience in the implementation of such projects. They should avoid unnecessary complications and make the necessary activities and actions transparent in advance.
- The customer completes a corresponding specification of the Postprocessor/MachineKit. The specification form is provided by JANUS. Providing the machine number is mandatory for INDEX machines! The more information about the machine and its programming can be provided by the customer, the more accurately the effort for the project can be estimated.
- If the customer has been using NX CAM for a longer time, we recommend that the customer creates one or more acceptance parts in NX, with appropriate machining operations for a representative operations of his components to be performed on the respective machine. This part(s) will be used by the developer to create and test the Postprocessor/MachineKit and will also be used as an acceptance part, where appropriate.
- JANUS checks the information regarding open questions, availability of necessary modules of the CAM system, necessary knowledge and training of the operators and derives a cost estimation and a corresponding offer.
- The customer checks the offer and consults with JANUS regarding changed and/or additional requirements.
- The customer orders the product and the associated service.
- JANUS checks the order and coordinates the development and implementation with the client, other suppliers (machine manufacturers, tool manufacturers, etc.) and parties involved.
- The development is carried out as precisely as possible according to the requirements. From experience, however, it makes sense to integrate some functions only during the implementation phase (on-site or remote), since these requirements must be coordinated with the respective work process. This is taken into account in the cost estimate and the quotation.
- The phase of implementation is divided into the installation and the first adaptation phase, as well as a customer-specific adaptation phase on site or remotely (if necessary). In the first implementation phase, which will preferably take place at the customer's site, the product will be installed, the system environment adapted, if necessary, and appropriate application consulting carried out with regard to the use of the Postprocessor/MachineKit with the CAM system in the customer's environment. If the user is already experienced and the system environment is known to us, this phase can also be carried out remotely.
- Prior to install/implement the postprocessor/machinekit a NX Logfile from the system of the customer is needed. The file can be extracted through starting an NX session on the system f the customer under the licenses server for NX and output according listing of the system log. This file needs to be send to JANUS Engineering.
- Very often in this context, questions of application are also clarified which are regarded as adaptation services.
- For the installation and adaptation phase, the customer will ensure that the CAM system and the machine are made available for test purposes. A corresponding user of the CAM system and the machine must also be available.
- After the installation and the test run on the machine with a program from the acceptance part, the postprocessor is considered delivered and executable. Acceptance of the Postprocessor/MachineKit by the customer shall take place upon error-free output/simulation of the output program from one of the acceptance parts or after an agreed acceptance period in which there are no more written defects with regard to operability (normally 2-4 weeks after installation). This does not apply to customer-specific adaptations.
- The installation is followed by a testing/adaptation/customisation phase in which the user runs through various test scenarios and formulates customer-specific requirements that are integrated as part of the implementation service. If further meaningful acceptance parts are available, this phase can be shortened decisively. In this phase, JANUS will carry out appropriate adjustments within the scope of the estimated and offered effort. This can be done on-site at the customer's site directly after installation or remotely. In the case of remote activities (home office of the developer or office of JANUS) these are logged accordingly and made available to the customer as information.
- The complete acceptance takes place after the implementation, if no further customer-specific adjustments must be carried out. This is the case if no written requirements exist up to 2 weeks after the last adaptation, or if the customer declares acceptance in writing. The expenditure for these customer-specific expenses is estimated based on the requirements known in advance. Should these estimated times not be sufficient, the customer will be informed accordingly and the further procedure will be negotiated.
- The product is billed within the framework of the implementation steps. 50% after installation and determination of the executability, 50% after complete acceptance, unless otherwise agreed. Adjustment services on site or remote will be invoiced after completion.
- Errors in the implemented functions are then carried out free of charge for up to 6 months after acceptance, provided that these are not customer-specific adaptations which are invoiced as adaptation services.
- After acceptance, the maintenance phase takes place. In the product offer a maintenance is listed, which the customer can also reject/reject. In the maintenance phase, errors are corrected free of charge, small extensions are implemented, updated to new versions of NX, test runs are carried out and corrected if errors occur, and new functions are introduced as part of the further development of the respective JANUS postprocessor structure.
Customer checklist - important activities and actions:
- Completion of the specification of the Postprocessor/MachineKit.
- Create one or more acceptance parts in NX.
- Review of offer and consultation with JANUS regarding changed requirements.
- Ordering the product and related services.
- Send NX Logfile to JANUS Engineering
- Ensure that the CAM system and machine are available for testing during the installation and adaptation phase.
- A corresponding user of the CAM system and the machine must also be available.
- Acceptance of the Postprocessor/MachineKit with error-free output/simulation of the output program.
- User plays through various test scenarios and customer-specific wishes are formulated.
- Complete acceptance. This shall be deemed to exist if no written requirements exist 2 weeks after the last adjustment or if acceptance has been declared in writing.
- Clarify maintenance
