NX CAD/CAM QuickTip: Manage your technical data more effectively

Take advantage of this powerful function

Computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) revolutionized the industry, enabling designers to create complex products with exceptional precision. However, for these designs to become functional products, it is essential to effectively document and communicate the associated technical data. This is where the Technical Data Package (TDP) function in Siemens NX comes in.

What's TDP ?

The Technical Data Package, or TDP, is a comprehensive set of technical data that gathers everything you need to understand, manufacture, inspect, assemble, and maintain a product. Siemens NX, a leading CAD/CAM software, incorporates this feature to assist industry professionals in managing and sharing these crucial pieces of information.

1- Go to the PMI application

A reminder: to start using PMI in NX, you need to activate the application.

2 - Publish

Simply click on the "Publish" icon in the top right-hand corner of the interface.
This function allows you to create your TDP, a package of technical data from your parts, and export it in 3D PDF or JT Plus PDF format.

3 - Finalize the publication

All you need to do is define the export parameters.

  • Choose your method: 3D PDF example
  • Choose your "Model»
  • In the "Model view" tab, under "Selected views", indicate the location where you wish to generate your documentation.
In the "Attachments" tab, you can attach documents.
  • Click on "OK"

Your documentation has been generated!

The TDP in Siemens NX simplifies the management of technical data, thereby enhancing communication, quality, and compliance throughout the product lifecycle. Thanks to this tool, companies can reduce manufacturing errors, improve team collaboration, and ensure adherence to quality standards, resulting in higher-quality end products and increased efficiency in the development process. Ultimately, the TDP is a cornerstone of the modern industry that enables the transformation of brilliant designs into real and functional products.
